Respite Care

The definition of Respite Care is the provision of short-term, temporary relief to those who are caring for family members who might otherwise require permanent placement in a facility outside the home.

The reality is that there are times when even the most loving and dedicated of carers need a break. There can be any number of reasons for this; perhaps the carer is themself unwell or has to be elsewhere, or maybe they are taking a well deserved holiday? This is where Ignite can come in. Without respite care services, those cared for at home would often have no option but to enter into a residential facility. For those with dementia or learning disabilities this can be an extremely stressful and upsetting prospect; as well as for their carers too.

In these situations, Ignite's highly trained and experienced carers and support workers can offer our Home Care service on a temporary basis, be it from a couple of hours to cover a shopping trip, right up to a few weeks whilst the primary carer is away on holiday.

There should be no guilt attached to taking time away from a person for whom you care, but sadly, there often is. Ignite are here to help alleviate that and you can be confident that that person is being looked after by someone who is not only professional, but really does care too.
